When to Send Out Wedding Invitations
Plan Ahead
Wedding planning is a complex and often lengthy process. It's important to plan ahead and make sure that everything is taken care of in a timely manner. One of the most important aspects of wedding planning is making sure that your guests are invited in a timely fashion. You should plan to send out your wedding invitations at least 8-12 weeks prior to the wedding date.
Design and Order Invitations
Once you have decided on the design for your wedding invitations, you should order them as soon as possible. Most companies require at least 6-8 weeks for production and delivery, so be sure to place your order in plenty of time. It's also a good idea to order a few extra invitations in case you need to send out additional invitations.
Include RSVP Cards
Most wedding invitations come with RSVP cards, which should be sent out along with the invitation. The RSVP card should include the date that guests need to respond by, as well as any other information that the couple needs. The RSVP card should also include contact information for the couple in case guests have any questions or need additional information.
Send Invitations Out in Time
Make sure that you send out your invitations at least 8 weeks before the wedding. This will give your guests plenty of time to respond and make travel arrangements if needed. If you are having a destination wedding, you should send out the invitations at least 10-12 weeks in advance.
Include Maps and Directions
If your wedding is taking place at a venue that may be unfamiliar to some of your guests, it's a good idea to include maps and directions in the invitation. This will help ensure that your guests are able to find the venue without any trouble.
Include Registry Information
If you have registered for gifts, you should include this information in the invitation. You can either include a small card with the invitation or include a link to your registry online. It's important to include this information so that your guests are aware of where you are registered and what gifts you would like.
Mail Invitations Out
Once your invitations are printed and assembled, you should mail them out. Depending on the type of mail service you use, it may take a few days to a few weeks for the invitations to be delivered. Make sure that you mail the invitations out in plenty of time so that your guests will receive them in a timely manner.
Follow Up With Guests
Once the invitations have been sent out, you should follow up with your guests to make sure they have received the invitation and are planning to attend. You can either follow up with a phone call or an email. This is also a good time to answer any questions that your guests may have about the wedding.
